it makes me cry

this is the Yangtze River Dolphin, the only species of freshwater dolphin in the world- there hasn't been one seen alive since 2002.

this dolphin is listed as Critially Endangered (Possibly Extinct)

In Indonesia, Orangutangs are killed as pests. They are listed as Critically Endangered.

It's hard to imagine our world without animals we grew up fascinated by as kids.

This link will take you to the updated Red List of endangered species.

We have to start caring.

Our world is dying.

I don't know if this will help, but you can remind yourself that 99% of all the living things that ever existed are extinct.

Things come, things go. That's the universe whether we like it or not. The only permanent thing is change, that's what Heraclites said.

Drinking also helps if philosophy isn't your thing.

haha, thanks! i know, i know... extinction is natural-- it's the HUMAN factor in it all, how much we accelerate this process, and how we should KNOW better....
